Cooper’s Plains Library Children’s Area Fitout
Upside down theme is a world of fun for young readers
Children love quirky ideas and what better fun for children than being in a world where everything is upside down! We designed, fabricated and installed the Cooper’s Plains Children’s Area posing the question “What would it be like if your backyard was turned upside down?”
To ensure the full impact of the theme is imparted, we used the ceiling and height of walls as much as possible – this also included a teddy bear’s picnic scene adhered to a grass coloured ceiling.
Features include:
- Reading areas are offset by a backyard scape which includes grass and mushrooms on the ceiling, an upside down fence, and clouds on the walls.
- An upside-down tree becomes a reading and play nook with inset bookshelf and tufts of flowers hanging from the ceiling
- An outdoor shed where all the tools live – you guessed it – upside down!
- Interactive components
- Teddy bears picnic on the ceiling
