At Toowong Library Children’s Area, reading is a fun and immersive experience. The new fit-out boasts interactive elements to inspire young children to stay, play and read. Brandi Projects designed, installed and fabricated the upgrade to the children’s section. This formed part of an overall refurbishment of Toowong Library.
The neighbourhood theme leans into a time-honoured role-play experience for under 12’s. Children can play house, shops, sit under the tree, pat the dog and of course, visit the library!

About the display
The children’s library section was part of an overarching library upgrade. As such, we worked closely with other companies, co-ordinating time and space to ensure the smooth completion of all projects to a tight deadline. With our experience in children’s library fit-outs, we were able to work under these constraints seamlessly.
This fit-out showcases a number of skills the Brandi Team have, particularly in creating vibrant themed visuals to spark imaginations and create a truly immersive experience. The Toowong fit-out highlights our expertise in painting. We were also able to use photography and designed elements to produce and install eye-catching vinyl graphics, pulling local elements into the theme.
This project also allowed us to showcase the possibilities when using the CNC router. We could cut and layer interesting and decorative shapes for visual impact.
Importantly, working with fit-outs designed for children requires the experience in building these elements to last. Interactive elements must engage, and they must also be safe for children. With every library fit-out, this is a primary consideration both in design and construction.

Of the entire Toowong Library upgrade, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said “…it’s a fantastic facility for the community.”
“With over 200,000 residents coming through here every year, these improvements will make such a difference for the local community and its a great outcome for the community,” added Cr Peter Matic.
